Color Guard uses lots of different types of equipment. We not only use equipment but also props, acting, and lots of others thing. The main four pieces we us are 6 foot flags, swing flags, rifles, and sabre.
The 6" flag that we uses is weighted and have 3 feet of flag. Most color guard shows consist of a least two or more different 6 foot flags. These flags have usually rectangular and sometimes rectangular with a flare at the bottom.
Then there swing flags. Swing flag poles are about 3 feet long. These type of flags can many different types of flags. Some can be very large and other are very tiny. It really just depends on your show.
The third type of equipment is the rifle. And I don't mean the hunter/kill/hunting deer rifle. I mean a piece of wood carved into a gun shape then wrapped in duct tape and then put a strap on. It is the one of the two types of weapons. These piece of equipment and the sabre are both very simpler. There are different types of of tossed that you can do that depends on the height and spin (how many times it goes around). Also they both can come in different sizes ranging from an 36" to a 39"
The sabre is a just what it sounds like. It is shaped like a curved sabre/sword. It just doesn't have a sharp tip or side.
There are other piece of equipment, like the 5 foot flag or 10 foot flag, an air-blade (like a rifle but is just a curve and has holes. Color guard can also deal with props. They can use things such as umbrellas, suitcases, or many different other things if they are connected to the the show theme.
