There is a color guard quote that I love, it is a pep talk before a competition that someone said to the guard. The quote is, 'Your job is to help the deaf person hear the music. They should feel the emotions of the music, just by watching you from the stands. Above all, you are the emotional connection to the music. That's what color guard is. That is what performing is.'
Then in the same quote page there a different one, 'Your best run wont happen o finals night. It won't happen in front of hundreds to thousands of fans screaming for you. It's going to happen on the practice field, where only your staff and other members can see you. Odds are, no one is going to cheer for you. Most likely, no one will even notice... but you'll know.' -DCI Staff
Those two quotes I love. They always get to me. Make me want to work even harder to get that toss that I don't always catch. Or push harder my guard to get those first place trophies. To be that guard, that even though is tiny can push through and win. Color guard is not only just a passion. It is my life.
